I’m afraid it’s 2 hours away. However, if you can get to Castro Marim there is a nice castle there which is also free. It’s probably about 40 minutes from Faro so much more doable. You could combine it with a visit to Vila Real de Santo Antonio and even Ayamonte in Spain. There is a ferry from VRSA across which costs less than two euro each way.
