I have gone to the Oregon Zoo quite a bit since I was young, but oddly enough I never saw any meerkats you mentioned? If it was in the Predators area, with a spot where you could go into a dome via crawling, I believe those are Mongoose. They look a bit similar, and I often mix them up. On a much more fun note, I noticed that the Zoo is getting Red Pandas and more Tigers this Spring, so I recommend going again if you like those. Polar Passage is, of course, still under construction until 2020, along with Rhinos and Primates.

In reply to Michelle Kellogg. While it is sad to see wild animals in zoos, for many it's necessary to keep the species alive. I think they're a great place to teach our children about respecting animals and about conservation. I've always loved zoos and will continue to bring my son to them.
