Wanderlust Kids #17

Welcome back to another Wanderlust Kids linky. Have you noticed anything different? I’ve finally undergone my rebrand from BattleMum to Passports and Adventures. Do you like the new name? BattleMum just didn’t fit anymore and I’m so much happier with the new name. A big thank you to everyone who has let me know they like it too. It means the world to me.

Things have been relatively quiet for us. Alex, formerly known as BattleKid, and I were in Cardiff at the beginning of October for a quick weekend and as a family, we’re returning to the UK next weekend for a quick trip. That’s our only travel plans until the big one in December. Anyway, it’s time for another round of the linky, so let’s get going.

Wanderlust Kids #16

September has just flown past for us. Did it do the same for you? We returned from our Central Portugal road trip and BattleDad was off again to London for work. As soon as he returned it was time to get BattleKid back to school. He’s been back two weeks now and has settled in well. His Portuguese is back in full swing too, which is great.

Anyhow, after a busy month it’s time for another Wanderlust Kids. Thanks to everyone who linked up last month, there were some fab posts to read. So without further ado, lets see who piqued my interest the most.

Wanderlust Kids #15

Welcome back to my Wanderlust Kids linky. A huge thank you to everyone who linked up, both revisiting bloggers and the new folks too. As this month’s linky goes live we are ending a road trip in Central Portugal, after finally starting to explore our new home country. We’ve been to Lousa, Nazare and Cascais/Lisbon and are making our way back to the Algarve today. I’ll be writing about our trip soon.

In the meantime, back to Wanderlust Kids. As always I thoroughly enjoyed reading all your posts. There were some great ones last month, but it is time to share with you my favourites from last month.

Featured Post from Wanderlust Kids #14

The post which stood out for me last month was Claire of A Mum More Ordinary’s post about visiting Toronto with Kids. Toronto was not a city that had made our radar, but after reading her post at least three times, I really, really want to go and visit the city. I’m thinking we could combine it with a visit to the National Parks in the west of Canada as part of a big three-week trip.

Claire shared all the family-friendly things there are to do in Toronto including visiting the Railway Museum, the Harbour (I’d love this) and the Ontario Science Museum which sounds so much like the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland. It looks like the kind of place we’d have to drag our son away from! Do go and give her post a read.

Special Mention Posts from Wanderlust Kids #14

The first of my special mention posts goes to Ann of Rainbows Are Too Beautiful who linked up a post about how she gets her family through an airport. She has children with both ADHD and autism, and she detailed how she plans their trip through the airport to take into account their special needs. She showed us how she tries to minimise the fuss and disruption to their children, and how she deals with cancellations or sudden changes to their itinerary. It certainly opened my eyes to families whose children need more help to get through what are naturally quite stressful places, even for families like us who don’t have children with special needs.

My second special mention posts was by Jules of Shades of Courage who linked up their ultimate toddler-friendly Spain road trip itinerary post. Having spent a month in Spain, she put together a two-week itinerary to enable others to see the best Spain has to offer. We were torn between a Spanish and Portuguese road trip for our recent holiday and would have visited some of the places she suggests. I am glad I read her post though, as we have a Land Rover which might not navigate some of the Andalusian roads well!

Thanks again to everyone who joined in with last month’s Wanderlust Kids. I hope to read more of your great posts again this month. I’ll be linking up my post about “Amazing Things to do in Lisbon with Kids” in which my fellow family travel bloggers have helped us plan our time in the city. I hope to be able to report back that we visited a few of them next month!

My ‘Wanderlust Kids’ linky will open from the 1st of each month for you to link up a post, old or new, which involves travelling with kids. It can be a day out, a family holiday, a travel review, somewhere new your children have discovered or a post with hints and tips about travelling with kids. As long as it features kids and is travel based it can be linked up. The following month I will choose 3 of my favourite posts to mention.

So, if you’d like to join in, just grab the badge below, add it to your post and link up your post via the link up button below. Alternatively, if you’d prefer not to add the badge, simply link back to this post.

Please make sure you visit a few other posts that have linked up and leave a comment.

Don’t forget that throughout the month you can use the #WanderlustKids on your Instagram photos which involve travelling with kids. These photos can be abroad, home or days out, so long as they feature your children and have a travel theme attached to it. Each month I will pick my favourites to showcase. I cannot believe how well this little community is growing and appreciate everyone who has adopted the #wanderlustkids on Instagram.

And last but not least, I’ve created a Wanderlust Kids group on Facebook. The idea behind it was that not everyone who travels with their kids will have a blog. So, by creating the group we can share our posts and travel tips with non-bloggers, and maybe even help each other out by sharing advice or ideas about travelling with your kids. I am hoping the group will grow and I’d love it if you could join up and add anyone you think might benefit from the group. Feel free to share your travel blog posts there too!

I look forward to reading your posts, maybe gaining some inspiration. And if you’re wondering about what types of posts have been linked up before, just search for “Wanderlust Kids” to find previous linky posts.
